29 Things I Learned In 29 Years

It was recently my 29th birthday, and I’m getting closer to that milestone of 30 (although what the hell does that mean anyway?). Here’s 29 things I’ve learned in 29 years.

Yes I’m aware I was frikken adorbs as  kid.

  1. No matter how old you get, you will regularly need to ring another more qualified grown up for help.
  2. Drink more water.
  3. It’s OK to say you’re not OK.
  4. No-one really knows what they’re doing.
  5. Don’t be afraid to cut toxic people out of your life.
  6. Call people out on their bullshit.
  7. Everything in moderation. You wanna eat that pizza, damn well eat it.
  8. Wear suncream. Seriously. Don’t be a dick.
  9. Tell people you love them often. You never know what’s around the corner.
  10. Stop putting yourself down, focus on the things you HAVE done, not what you HAVEN’T.
  11. There’s no ‘good’ or ‘bad’ music. Like whatever you like and OWN it.
  12. Make a damn effort. Friends, partners, family whatever.
  13. Stop using ‘sorry I was busy’ as an excuse. You make time for the things that are important.
  14.  You don’t have to shave any body hair you don’t want to. You do you.
  15. Fuck anyone that makes you feel bad about yourself. Seriously, no one needs that in their life.
  16.  Nothing beats a good singsong at the top of your lungs.
  17. You never regret a workout once it’s done.
  19. It’s OK to say you don’t want to do something without having to make an excuse.
  20. People need to stop judging people for how they live their life. Wanna spend your Friday night in your jammies and go to bed at 8pm, awesome! Wanna dance the night away and get shitfaced? Also cool!
  21. Love is love. Seriously it’s 2017. As long as you’re not hurting anyone, why the heck does it matter who you choose to be with?
  22. Stand up for those who have no voice.
  23. It’s likely you’ll never stop second guessing yourself.
  24. I don’t know why I didn’t stop eating meat sooner.
  25. Be wary of those who aren’t clapping when you succeed.
  26. When you get your smear test letter. Book in the appointment straight away. It’s so important.
  27. Everyone poos. Seriously why are people so weird about this.
  28. Give out compliments freely! Like someone’s shoes? Tell them! Their perfume smells nice? Tell them!
  29. Friends that make you feel like you can take on the world are a rare gem. Hold onto them tight.

What are some things you would add to the list?
